WHO IS THE TEACHER?

Karyn Van Dam is the studio owner, international music educator and vocal coach, specialising in voice and and songwriting. She also enjoys playing and teaching the ukulele. She holds multiple music credentials including post-graduate qualifications and is passionate about bringing musical opportunities to communities at home, including families at risk from Covid or Homeschooling. OVERVIEW

A class for complete beginners to the ukulele suitable for kids aged 8-12

Kids will have fun learning about... the instrument itself and it's origin - Tuning - Best practice for holding the ukulele - Finger positioning - Rhythm and basic strumming - Music Fundamentals - Basic/Common chords and playing songs - Singing while playing songs encouraged

Learning materials will be provided, eg learning or song, sheets

Classes will not be recorded due to parent and guardian preferences
CLASS SPACES

Minimum 6, Maximum 12.
REQUIREMENTS

Ukulele (if you do not yet have one, the recommended brand/type is a 'Makala Dolphin or Shark').

Please use a laptop/computer rather than a phone or tablet/iPad if possible

Your device must have sound, camera and adjustable volume

Access to Zoom needed (particular Zoom settings will also be recommended)

Regular practise is required between class times in order to progress (average recommendation of 10 minutes per day, 4-5 times per week).

Pen, paper and clear file (minimum 20 page) for each lesson

Printing a few pages for weekly materials each week is highly recommended, as it makes learning and playing much easier

Parents/guardians may be required to assist with tuning the ukulele prior to each lesson (where students need guidance), (although tuning will be covered for learning purposes).
CANCELLATION POLICY
No make-up lessons or alternate class times are available. Learning materials covered such as slides will be made available each week in the case that a class is missed. Learning/practise videos may also be made available at times.
REFUND POLICY
All payments are non-refundable and non-transferable.
